Darnall Primary has a good story to tell
If buildings could talk, there is no doubt the walls of Darnall Primary would tell tales of the trials, tribulations and successes of the generations of girls and boys who have passed through.

Darnall Primary School has a rich and unique story to tell.
From humble beginnings when it was established in 1916, the school has grown into a reputable facility providing quality education.
Starting out more than a century ago as a wood and iron structure with only one big and one small classroom, Darnall now caters for pupils from Grade R to Grade 7.
If buildings could talk, there is no doubt the walls of Darnall Primary would tell tales of the trials, tribulations and successes of the generations of girls and boys who have passed through.
Here, pupils experience a holistic approach to education as the school strives to encourage sound moral values.
A team of dedicated teachers are committed to recognise and develop the unique potential of each child and to cultivate those virtues and skills that lead towards happy and rewarding lives.
Academic work is the top priority and the school has an outstanding record of academic achievement with many of our pupils annually receiving scholarships and bursaries to attend leading high schools.
Our facilities include air-conditioned classrooms each with white boards and e-beams, beautiful gardens, new sport fields, a well-stocked library and a computer centre with an interactive Smartboard.
A variety of sport and cultural activities allow every pupil to develop self-confidence and self-discipline.
All-round participation is encouraged and every child is given the opportunity to be actively involved in all aspects of school life.
At Darnall Primary, we encourage integrity, honesty, personal responsibility, manners and respect for others.
Darnall Primary coach passionate about sport
Darnall Primary School sport coach Brigitta Erasmus developed a passion for sport from an early age, spending countless days next to sport fields as a young child while her parents competed.

She soon developed into a fine cricket player and played for her schools’ boys teams throughout her school career.
Her link with cricket remains. She is chairperson of both the district’s mini cricket and girls’ cricket divisions and was named KZN mini-cricket coach of the year in 2019 and 2021.
Brigitta, or Briggs as she is fondly known, understands that sport is more than “building muscles and boosting energy”.
Sport, she said, allows a child to develop in areas beyond the classroom, promoting confidence, leadership skills, commitment, self-trust and self-worth – all while easing stress.
“Although I coach all sport codes at school, I am most passionate about cricket and swimming. Swimming is a very needed basic life skill and has many benefits,” said Briggs.
