Ballito Urban Improvement Precinct’s beautification projects roll on

Established and funded by local commercial property owners in 2015, the UIP has an impressive track record of combatting urban decay and enhancing public spaces.

Special projects continued these past few months for the Ballito Urban Improvement Precinct’s (UIP) cleaning, greening and maintenance teams who worked tirelessly to revitalise the precinct with new gardens and signage upgrades.

The area opposite La Ballito was revamped from the servitude down to Willard Beach. The Ballito UIP greening team re-potted plants, painted paving and pruned the gardens. Water-wise Aloes and Euphorbias were planted to bulk up the existing gardens

Gardens along the P445 median fence line between McDonald’s and the Lifestyle Centre, the berm gardens near the N2 entrance at Wakenshaw Estate and the Willard Beach servitude were all refreshed while signage across the precinct was upgraded.

Ballito UIP precinct manager Thierry Leclezio said: “Beautiful new gardens and refreshed signage are just another demonstrations of our ongoing commitment to keeping urban decay at bay, enhancing the quality of life in the precinct and protecting property values.”

The P445 centre median (between McDonald’s and the Lifestyle Centre) was replanted with a different plant palette to bring more interest into the area.

Established and funded by local commercial property owners in 2015, the Ballito UIP has an impressive track record of combatting urban decay and enhancing the precinct’s public spaces one special project at a time. Since 2016, the UIP has completed 101 projects which have made a significant difference to the area.

Plumbago hedges were planted at the entrance to Ballito for a welcoming impact.

From cleaning graffiti and landscaping to maintaining pavements and filling potholes, the UIP is dedicated to creating a safe, cared-for environment that enhances property values and creates enjoyable spaces for everyone.
