Ashton International College Ballito matrics keep 14 years of 100% pass rate alive

It was another impressive set of results across the board for Ashton and the grade achieved an incredible combined average of 70.1%.

Ashton International College Ballito‘s outgoing IEB matrics earned the school its 14th consecutive 100% pass rate.

The IEB class of 2023 went one better too, also claiming a 100% bachelor’s degree pass which means every single one of the students can pursue tertiary education.

It was another impressive set of results across the board for Ashton and the grade achieved an incredible combined average of 70.1%.

The top 10 students claimed 52 distinctions between them, while the top three all earned a ‘full house’ of distinctions in every subject they took.

The Ashton IEB top three of Senthuri Naicker (3rd), Diyajal Dass (1st) and Ruby Dixon (2nd).

“We are all exceptionally proud of the class of 2023 who have worked tirelessly, supported by a talented team of staff, to produce excellent results in the IEB matric examinations,” said Ashton head of senior college, Belinda Boucher.

“As we congratulate and celebrate the top achievers, we also acknowledge the students who worked with dedication to attain their personal best and who can be proud of some very fine results.”

Diyajal Dass was Ashton’s top IEB achiever, claiming nine distinctions and an average of 92%.

She also managed marks of more than 90% in five of her subjects – mathematics (97%), physical sciences (96%), accounting (95%), life orientation (94%) and further studies mathematics, calculus and algebra (93%).

“I’m ecstatic, overwhelmed, speechless,” said a thrilled Dass on results day.

“Obviously hard work is so important, but I think the main advice I would give is to learn time management and balance. Yes, I was focused when I was studying, but stopping when I needed to take time for myself was crucial.”

Dass was included in the IEB outstanding achievers list, which means she finished among the top 5% of students countrywide in at least six subjects, while also getting a distinction for life orientation.

The top three CAIE AS pupils were Nabila Sayed, Yasmeen Moolla and Mihle Bantubani.

She also finished among the top 1% countrywide for life orientation and physical sciences.

She plans on studying actuarial science at the University of Cape Town.
