Zimbali Lodge’s Eleven Tribes restaurant relaunches with bold new menu

The South African-inspired restaurant is open to both Zimbali residents and members of the public.

The freshly revamped signature restaurant, Eleven Tribes at Zimbali Lodge offers a delightful blend of culinary creativity inspired by South Africa’s rich heritage.

The 180-seater restaurant – open to both the public and Lodge guests – serves modern cuisine that celebrates the country’s diverse cultures while bringing their shared food traditions together.

“We believe in the Nordic tradition of using local, seasonal ingredients to showcase what our country produces to the world,” said head chef Malusi Mkhize.

“Every South African will find something on the menu that resonates with their culinary heritage.”

A brand-new, eight-course set menu experience is launching this week, complete with local wine pairings. The restaurant will also offer set menu dining on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.

“Expect local produce with a twist, including some interesting proteins like quail, guinea fowl and venison,” said Mkhize.

Alongside the restaurant, the Lodge’s conference rooms and business centre have also been recently refurbished. The three modern venues are all equipped with hybrid-meeting technology, landscaped breakout terraces and enterprise-level Wi-Fi.

“We have a lovely rim-flow pool overlooking the ocean, where kids can play while their parents get some work done,” said General Manager Bailey Bhima.

“Restaurant guests are welcome to enjoy the pool. Please remember to bring your own towels, as we are not able to provide them. We kindly ask that no outside food or drinks are brought in.”

The Lodge itself offers a boutique experience, with 28 beautifully appointed rooms set within Zimbali’s unique natural surroundings of lush coastal forest.
