The weekend crime round-up.

Umhlali SAPS responded to the following crimes over the weekend:

* Early on Sunday morning a house in La Toinette on Compensation Road was broken into. The sliding door was removed to gain entry into the house. A guard at Acacia Park let a man driving a Mercedes Benz into the lot who claimed that he was going to collect paint. The guard was then held at gunpoint after returning to his post. Burglars forced him to lie face down on the ground while they robbed a warehouse. Five computers, an LCD TV set, a Nikon camera, and R1100 in cash were stolen. The total value was R32 000.

* After answering a knock on his door in Nkobongo on Saturday evening, a resident was accosted by two men with a knife. A television was stolen from the house. Police have already made one arrest.

* Early on Saturday morning, a house on Susan Avenue was broken into and cash, two laptops and personal belongings to the value of R46 000 were stolen. The sliding door had been removed to gain entry.

* A group of people formed a roadblock near Nkobongo Hall on Saturday, forcing a driver with groceries in his van to stop. He demanded that they clear the obstruction. During that time, the goods in his truck were stolen.

* A man and his wife were forced off the road by a White Polo near the Ballito off-ramp on Friday. The attacker then got out of his vehicle and punched through the man’s window and assaulted him.

* During the weekend, police arrested one person for selling liquor without a license, four for possession of marijuana, one for a road traffic violation, one for possession of an unlicensed firearm and three people for drinking in public.
