A weekly round-up of the area's crime.

The following crimes were attended to by Umhlali SAPS last weekend:
∙  A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour last Wednesday. It was reported to Umhlali SAPS over the weekend.
∙ Two brush cutters were stolen at gunpoint from workers near Ralph’s Place in Salt Rock at 1pm on Friday
∙  Two businesses were burgled. A computer, DVD player and TV (worth R24 300) were stolen from a business at The Well and six computers (worth R56 000) were stolen from a business on Douglas Crowe Drive.
∙  A house in Chakas Rock was burgled while three residents were resting in their rooms on Saturday. An iPhone, laptop, cash and cards were stolen.
∙  A man was threatened with a firearm near Tiffany’s Centre on Salt Rock Drive on Saturday. He had stopped his car to answer his phone when a man in a VW GTI stopped next to him. He allegedly threatened the driver with a firearm, verbally abused him and then drove off.
∙  A man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly poisoning another person’s dog on Salisbury Road. He was later released on bail and the case was postponed.
∙  A house in Etete was broken into on Sunday morning. The bathroom window was smashed and household items were stolen.
∙  Copper cables were stolen from a house in Driefontein on Saturday night. Kriesfontein School had its transformers (worth R20 000) stolen on Saturday night, leaving the school without lights.
∙ Umhlali SAPS arrested one person for drunk driving, four for selling liquor without a license, seven for possession of marijuana, eight for drinking in public and three people were arrested for road traffic violations.
