The weekend's crime roundup from Umhlali SAPS.

The following crimes were attended to by Umhlali SAPS over the weekend:

∙  A man was hijacked when he stopped his car outside a house in Shakashead in the early hours of Sunday morning. Three armed men forced him out of the vehicle and drove off.

∙  Early on Sunday morning a resident at Spionkop had a shootout with an intruder in his kitchen. The intruder ran out of the house, leaving his firearm behind.

∙  A woman was allegedly assaulted with a broom by her boyfriend on Saturday night in Nkobongo.

∙  A man was killed in a hit and run incident on Glendale road on Saturday night. He was allegedly hit by a white bakkie which drove off after the collision.

∙  Electronics were stolen from a house in Nkobongo in the early hours of Saturday morning.

∙  A 14-year-old girl was raped and assaulted in her home while her mother was sleeping in Etete on Friday night. Her mother found her the next morning with severe injures and she was taken to hospital.

∙  Burglars removed a storeroom roof to steal canned food and nappies on Friday night in Shakaskraal. The goods were allegedly valued at R46 000.

∙  Four people were locked in a container full of chemicals on Friday afternoon on a farm in Shayamoya. Police rescued them after family members reported them missing.

∙  Two men pretending to be technicians stole a laptop from a business in Warne House in Ballito on Friday afternoon.

Umhlali SAPS arrested three people for possession of marijuana, two for road traffic violations, 13 for drinking in public, four for selling liquor without a license and one person was arrested for disturbing the peace.
