The following crimes were attended to by Umhlali SAPS over the weekend:
• A Ballito resident notified Umhlali SAPS that a man was trying to break into his house on Compensation Beach road on Sunday evening. The man was arrested.
• Four men assaulted a policeman after he tried to arrest them outside Zama Zama Tavern in Shakashead on Sunday evening.
• A murder case was opened after the body of a woman was found half buried in a sugar cane field in Upper Tongaat on Sunday.
• A bakkie was stolen from the parking lot off Hewitt Drive in Salt Rock on Saturday.
• Four Guess watches were stolen from a Jewellery store in Ballito on Saturday. The shopkeeper was helping a customer when three men entered the store and left within a few minutes. The items were missing after they left.
• A robber kicked down the door of a house in Shayamoya and threatened the resident at knife point early on Saturday morning. He robbed the house and locked the owner inside.
• Items were stolen out of car on Patricia Road on Friday night. The window was smashed to gain entry.
• A house on Hullett Drive was broken into and robbed on Friday night, while another house on Kudu Road in Salt Rock was also broken into and robbed on the same night.
• Twenty-two bags of cement were stolen from a Shakashead house on Friday night.
• On Friday night a Landcruiser was stolen from an open garage in Salt Rock.
• In Shakashead on Friday night one man assaulted another with a boulder after an argument.
