UPDATE: School pupil bust with whoonga in Ballito

Pupil (17) caught with whoonga appears in court.

The 17-year-old school pupil from Ntshawini who was arrested in Ballito last Tuesday night  for drug possession was released on bail.

He appeared in Umhlali Magistrate’s Court on Monday after being arrested for carrying whoonga to the street value of R47 000.

Umhlali SAPS warrant officer Mandla Ngema said the boy is a grade 11 pupil at one of the high schools in Ntshawini.

“Each straw usually costs about R25 on the street,” said Ngema.

The boy was apparently transporting the drugs from Durban to Ntshawini and police said it is possible that he is a drug dealer at his school.
