KwaDukuza jails job offering rapist

Nzama lured his victim away with a job offer.

Thulani Nzama (41)  who appeared yesterday, 12 May, in the KwaDukuza Regional Court was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for raping a 24-year-old woman.

According to the police, on May 3 2014 the victim was on her way home when Nzama approached her with a job offer.

While they were walking he attacked her, dragged her into the bushes and raped her.

He took her cellphone and fled.

She screamed for help and some passersby came to her rescue.

They searched for the accused until he was apprehended.

Major Thulani Zwane said the accused was handed over to the police and was arrested for rape and robbery.

The Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni praised the KwaDukuza FCS on their dedication in solving the cases and sending the rapist to prison.

“We welcome the sentence and we hope that it will send a strong message to other would be rapists who target our vulnerable women and children,” she said.
