The driver of a Colt bakkie went over the Maidstone bridge, this morning at about 5am while travelling on the R102 and was found to have suffered a gun shot wound.
The KwaDukuza fire department and paramedics found the driver, a man in his 30s, wedged in his car.
“Even with advanced life support intervention, the patient unfortunately died shortly after extrication,” said IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst.
Herbst said besides the gun shot wound the driver had critical injuries from the accident.
The cause of the accident and shooting are under investigation by the police.
