Intruders’ attempted break-in foiled by Elvis Blue in Ballito

The 2010 Idols South African winner's visit to the holiday town of Ballito was rudely disrupted.

Well known, Elvis Blue was on holiday in Ballito this week when he was awoken last night by three intruders.

In his Facebook post, Blue said: “What a night. Woke up just before 4am. Heard a strange noise downstairs.

“Myself and the girls are in Ballito on holiday for the week.

“Three men were trying to get into the house.

“So glad I woke up.

“Thank you also to the SAPS for coming out so quickly.

“Thankful that we are all ok.”

He also relaid the incident on Twitter:

When Blue was announced winner during the final held on November 2 2010, he had won with 64 per cent of the votes.

He made Idols history by sharing his winnings with runner-up Lloyd Cele.

His cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, which he performed during the finals, was also included on his debut album, Elvis Blue.

The album went platinum in 2011.

Universal Music South Africa stated that Elvis is the first South African Idols winner to have ever released a platinum-selling debut album.
