Crime report: Nine arrested for drunk driving

Four people were caught for illegally dealing in liquor.

Umhlali SAPS attended the following crimes last weekend:

Housebreaking reported at Seaward Estate in Ballito on Saturday. A laptop, cellphone, jewellery and money were stolen.

A white Toyota Avanza was stolen from the basement parking in Ballito Lifestyle Centre on Saturday afternoon.

The vehicle has yet to be recovered. Umhlali SAPS and Lifestyle centre management are working together to investigate the theft.

Four people were caught for illegally dealing in liquor, nine for drunk driving, five for being in possession of dagga and two for drinking in public.

A 21-year-old man was arrested last Wednesday for allegedly stabbing a man in Shakaskraal main street last Saturday.

It was reported last week that the incident took place inside Action Bar, however the man reportedly ran into the bar for assistance.

The Shayamoya resident accused of stabbing him appeared at the Umhlali Magistrate’s Court last Friday and on Monday. He was released on bail.
