UPDATE: Woman killed for funeral money

The deceased was a nurse at Stanger Hospital and she was with her mother when the tragedy happened

A daylight street robbery that left one woman dead and two men injured, apparently over a large amount of money, stunned passers-by in the middle of KwaDukuza last week.

The Ntshawini resident (40) was killed on King Shaka Street on her way to a funeral services company. She was going to pay for the funeral of her mother-in-law.

According to KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson, warrant officer Johannes Khoza, the woman was coming from the bank.

It was falsely reported that her car and a child were taken by the robbers.

“Her car was parked at Absa Bank and she was walking to the funeral service company when she was killed. Her car was not taken and there is no child missing,” said Khoza.

The deceased was a nurse at Stanger Hospital and she was with her mother when the tragedy happened.

As the robbers sprayed bullets into the street, a 24-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the head, while another was shot in the arm.

“A case of murder, two of attempted murder and armed robbery is being investigated,” said Khoza.
