Armed robbers strike Ballito Junction

The incident comes one week after a vehicle was stolen from the underground car park

Ballito Junction Regional Mall was once again targeted on Thursday night.
At around 11pm, four men, two of whom were armed, held up a security officer patrolling the level 6 car park at gunpoint.

“They then made their way into the mall with the security officer and broke into Watches Unlimited using a crowbar,” said Umhlali SAPS spokesperson Vinnie Pillay.

The armed men took watches from eight cabinets at Watches Unlimited.
Store manager Sumendren Pillay said the thieves had taken watches from eight cabinets.

“We are still trying to verify the value of the watches stolen, but the prices range between R500 and R18 000.”

The men robbed the security officer of his two-way radio and his Samsung cellphone before driving away in a white BMW.

The incident comes one week after a vehicle was stolen from the underground car park.
