Young man hacked with bush knife in Sheffield

Police have arrested the man believed to have attacked the young man with a bush knife

A severely stabbed man was attacked with a bush knife in Sheffield earlier this evening.

IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Paul Herbst said they found the man in his 20’s with multiple small wounds and two big gashes at around 5.30pm at a house behind Sheffield Gardens.

“The cut on his chest was so deep that you could see his internal organs through his rib cage.

“He also had a big cut on his neck, which exposed his vertebrae,” said Herbst.

Advanced Life Support paramedics worked on the man before taking him to hospital, where he is still in a critical condition.

Umhlali SAPS spokesperson Vinny Pillay said the police have made an arrest.

“It is believed that the man who was injured got into an argument before being slashed with the bush knife,” said Pillay.

Also earlier this evening, a pedestrian died after being hit by a car on the N2 south on-ramp from Ballito.
