Wanted man found dead in Shakaville

He was found with a gunshot wound to his head and a firearm in his hand

A wanted man was found dead on the banks of the Mbozamo River in Shakaville last Thursday.

The man was wanted in connection with the murder of his girlfriend.

KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson warrant officer Johaness Khoza said the man was found with a gunshot wound to his head and a firearm in his hand.

“It is believed that he shot himself but there was no suicide note or eye witnesses. It is alleged that the gun was stolen from a KwaDukuza businessman on July 23. The same gun was used for the murder and the suicide,” said Khoza.

One of the illegal firearms found in Maphumulo.

Four illegal firearms were found and four men were arrested in Maphumulo on last Wednesday as a result of an operation by the Ilembe cluster task team, Nsuze visibility policing, the Ilembe Technical Response team and the Umhlali K9 dog unit to find drugs and illegal firearms.

“The main point of conducting these operations is to deal with the root causes of the present escalating crimes, more especially armed robbery, murder and gender based violence,” said Khoza.

He urged residents to stand up and report the criminal leaders behind these crimes.
