A motorist made a lucky escape on Wednesday night after two men attempted to hijack him at gunpoint.

According to KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson Johannes Khoza, the man was driving down the Blythedale off-ramp at about 11.30pm when he noticed two men placing logs over the road

“He tried avoid them but ended up going over one of the logs,” said Khoza.

They approached his car, aiming a gun at him.

“He managed to escape, driving over the logs. He was lucky to get only a flat tire out of the incident.”

Khoza told The Courier that a case of attempted carjacking had been opened and investigations were ongoing.

“Police are patrolling the area and motorists are asked to be extra vigilant – especially when driving alone at night.”
