From house break-ins to drug arrests, Umhlali SAPS reported the following crimes over the weekend:
* A case of culpable homicide was opened after an elderly woman and her great grandchild were run over by a truck in Glendale last Friday.
* R2000 cash was stolen at a service station at Ballito last Friday. The public is advised to not ask for assistance when using an ATM.
* A house break-in took place at Shakaskraal on Friday where a TV valued at R3000 was stolen.
* A house was broken into at Upper Tongaat on Friday where clothing was stolen.
* A laptop and jewelry valued at R21 000 were stolen from a house at Chaka’s Rock on Saturday.
* Five assault cases were opened. Most were domestic issues. The police have warned that they are taking violence against women very seriously.
* On Sunday, seven people were arrested for selling drugs and four taverns were fined for operating without a liquor license.
