WATCH: Interview on Dillon Puckree’s murder case

The third accused, a minor, will appear in court today

The 17 year old third accused in the Dillon Puckree murder case will be appearing in court today (Friday) after his hearing was postponed yesterday.

The two other accused aged 22 and 24 were opposed bail yesterday at the KwaDukuza magistrates court and will be held in custody until their next court appearance on September 21.

Puckree was severely beaten, reportedly during a fight just after midnight last Friday in Stanger Manor and died in hospital last Sunday.

Yesterday, more than 100 angry protesters demonstrated outside the court during the bail hearing of the three accused, calling for them to remain in custody.

In an interview with The Courier yesterday, Glenhills CPF chairperson Clinton Gumede said the crowd were demonstrating their anger through a peaceful march.

“We are saying justice must prevail and those people who murdered Dillon Puckree must go behind bars.”

He described Puckree as a down to earth person.

“He was a taxi conductor. Even if you were short of 50 cents, he would take you from Glenhills to town”

Puckree was the only son of Pushpa Puckree.
