A taxi owner was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting outside his home in Warren Road in KwaDukuza (Stanger) last night, September 15.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst, the man, who belonged to the Maphumulo Taxi Association, was shot multiple times as he was entering his driveway in his car.
In 2017 alone, this is the third reported taxi-related murder that has taken place on the North Coast.
Warren Road residents who heard the gunshots immediately took to Facebook with many saying that KwaDukuza was no longer safe.
“Stanger is on the map for everything…” said Suren Ramayerser.
Shay Shay said, “People should live in peace as one happy united South Africa. Corruption will end, lets be positive and take our hands together to bring our community back together. We can do this.”
KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson Johannes Khoza confirmed that the murder was under investigation.
The Maphumulo Taxi Association could not be reached for comment.
