Weekend crime report

Umhlali SAPS attended to nine crimes over the weekend.

Umhlali SAPS attended the following crimes this weekend:

  • Two cables were stolen from the railway at Shakaskraal on Friday.
  • A Nkobongo resident was attacked and stabbed by two men at his house on Friday night. One of the men was arrested.
  • A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing a copper cable in Ballito on Friday.
  • A Toyota Hilux bakkie was stolen in Ballito on Friday afternoon.
  • A 15-year-old girl was raped in Shakaskraal on Saturday. She was walking with her friend on a bush road by Rosehill Road when a man held her at knife point and dragged her into the bush.
  • A 29-year-old woman was raped by three men in Nkobongo on Saturday night. She was on her way home from one of the taverns in the township.
  • A 14-year-old girl was raped in Etete on Sunday afternoon. She was allegedly raped by her friend’s boyfriend.
  • A body was found in Nkobongo on Sunday. It is unclear what was the cause of death. The body was taken to KwaDukuza mortuary.
  • Seven people were arrested for being in possession of dagga and six people were arrested for selling liquor without a license.
