
The owner of a liquor store was shot and killed and a security guard was injured during an armed robbery at Sundumbili Plaza in Mandeni on Monday afternoon.
According to SAPS Ilembe cluster spokesperson, constable Sibusiso Khuzwayo, 44-year-old Lavendran Govender was shot twice in the chest.

The security guard is recovering in hospital.
“The guard was shot by the robbers when he and his colleagues tried to help the owner of the liquor store.
“Fortunately, the security guard managed to shoot one of the suspects in the leg, and he is in hospital under police guard,” said Khuzwayo.
A case of armed robbery, murder, and attempted murder has been opened at Sundumbili Police Station.
