Four most wanted criminals arrested

It is alleged that the gang has been robbing businesses in Umhlali, Tongaat, Mpangeni and Inanda.

Umhlali SAPS task team recently arrested four gang members who have been robbing businesses throughout the North Coast in recent months.

Two were arrested in Empangeni and the other two were arrested in Shaka’s Head.

Another two members of the gang are still being sought.

One of the men was found in possession of a rifle with ammunition which had been stolen during a house robbery at Odondolo Reserve, Matshana in October last year.

It will be sent for ballistic testing to see if it had been used in other crimes.

It is alleged that the gang has been robbing businesses in Umhlali, Tongaat, Mpangeni and Inanda.

“The gang has been troubling business people especially foreign nationals. It is also alleged that during the commission of these offences they threatened victims with firearms and even raped the females. They were charged with robbery of businesses and houses, attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm,” said KZN police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele.
