Computers and telephone lines have been down for three days at Umhlali SAPS after the station’s Telkom cables were stolen.
Umhlali SAPS captain Vinny Pillay said they were working on the problem but that he could not say when it will be fixed.
People reporting incidents or opening a case are not able to get case numbers as the station’s main system is down.

“We do have a backup system but that system is not able to generate case numbers. We will be contacting people when our systems are up and running to give them their references. We would like to apologize to the public for the inconvenience.”
The station can be contacted on their temporary number at 082 411 5205.
