Ballito hijacking, driver abandoned in Inanda

The hijacking took place at the M4 robots near The Well, opposite the Engen Garage

A Ballito man was lucky to escape with his life after he was hijacked by three armed men on the M4, Ballito and taken to Inanda, Durban on Monday night.

The Seaward Estate resident had been out driving his new car at around 8pm when three men jumped into his vehicle, pointed a gun at him, put a plastic bag over his head and ordered him to get into the back seat of his car.

Umhlali SAPS spokesperson captain Vinny Pillay said: “The man said his window had been open and one of the hijackers had put his hand into the car and unlocked the door.

“He reported that he was dropped off in Inanda and helped by another unknown man. He was taken to Inanda SAPS where he reported the case.

“The case has been transferred to Umhlali SAPS for investigation.”

A gun, cash and iPhone had also reportedly been stolen.
