Three arrested for Groutville man burnt alive

Adebo Abera was burnt alive by protesters.

Three men have been arrested for the murder of an Ethiopian shopkeeper last week Tuesday in Groutville.

According to KwaDukuza police spokesperson constable Sibusiso Khuzwayo, the men are between 19 and 36 years old and they will be appearing at the Durban High Court.

“One of them will appear on Monday and the other two will appear on Thursday. They have been charged with murder and arson. ”

Khuzwayo said police should soon arrest a fourth person.

Adebo Abera (26) was sleeping in his brother’s shop, Sizabantu Supermarket, near the Luthuli Museum when the shop was set alight by people reportedly trying to loot the shop.

Abera’s murder happened during a power outage protests in Groutville, Tshawini and Thembeni.
