A police officer from Mandeni suffered a gunshot wound to the chest near Tugela this morning (Sunday).
Although exact details are still to be confirmed, police do not suspect foul play.

“Constable Shavin Ishwarbhai is part of the detective unit of the station,” said Ilembe cluster SAPS spokesperson, constable Sibusiso Khuzwayo.
“Police are still investigating and we will provide more details as soon as we get them.”
“The off duty policeman was airlifted from his home by our helicopter and taken to hospital in a critical condition,” said IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst.
