One man has been killed and two have been left with serious injuries following an attack at the Imam Hussain Mosque in Ottawa, Verulam.
The three victims, believed to be a worshiper, care taker and priest, were targeted by three armed men, who reportedly walked into the Mosque screaming and shouting.
Paul Herbst of IPSS Medical Rescue said, “Unconfirmed reports suggests that three men, reportedly of Egyptian descent, attacked members of the mosque before setting fire to the building.”

Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst confirmed that all three victims had their throats slit.

The three victims were stabilised and taken to hospital, where the one man later succumbed to his injuries.
According to a report issued by Reaction Unit South Africa, the attackers, who were wearing half balaclavas, fled in a white Hyundai light motor vehicle with no registration plates.

Update: The initial report has been updated after confirmation from paramedics that one of the victims died in hospital.
