
An attempt to steal a bakkie from Duffs Road in KwaMashu late last night resulted in a high speed chase and shootout on the N2.
At around 11pm, the Durban Flying Squad responded to reports of a bakkie that had been stolen.

They managed to track the vehicle’s signal and chase it down, making their way onto the N2 heading north.
“A shootout ensued between the SAPS members and the suspects at the N2 northbound Chakas Rock off-ramp,” said Umhlali SAPS captain Vinny Pillay.
“As a result, one suspect was shot and killed and two people were arrested.”
A firearm reportedly used by the car thieves was recovered with the stolen vehicle.
