His modus operandi was to wait at a certain spot during the day and prey on unsuspecting women walking in secluded areas in Maphumulo.

He would drag the victims to the nearby bushes where he would rape them and take their belongings.

The cases were reported to Maphumulo SAPS during 2016 and 2017.

He was arrested on Saturday, 26 May, at Glebelands hostel where he was hiding, and briefly appeared in the Maphumulo Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to make his second appearance in court next week.
