Ndwedwe bust leads to unlicensed firearms, dagga

The firearms had the serial numbers filed off.

Three unlicensed firearms and 25 kilograms of dagga were confiscated during a recent operation conducted by the Ilembe cluster task team and public order police near Ndwedwe.

Police arrested two men in different homesteads at Malangeni Reserve.

A 31-year-old man was found with a revolver and one round of ammunition, and a 49-year-old man was found with a revolver, a pistol with three rounds of ammunition and dagga in his possession.

The firearms had the serial numbers filed off. Both men were charged for possession of unlicensed firearms.

A possession of dagga charge was added to the 49-year-old man.

They appeared in the KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court on 15 June and were detained in police custody.
