Two unlicensed firearms were recovered from the dead men

A group of heavily armed men stormed into one of the supermarkets in Kranskop and held up the manager, shot a customer and took an undisclosed amount of money on Saturday.

“It is alleged that the store owner managed to shoot and kill two of the men,” said KZN police spokesperson lieutenant colonel Thulani Zwane.

Two unlicensed firearms were recovered from the dead men, while the remaining robbers managed to take an undisclosed amount of cash and fled in two getaway vehicles.

“A case of armed robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition was opened at Kranskop police station for further investigation.

“A case of the inquest was also opened regarding the death of the two suspects.”
