UPDATE: Four arrested for Mandeni taxi boss shooting

The motive behind the shooting is still unknown.

The four men arrested for allegedly shooting a Mandeni taxi owner will reappear in court today, facing charges of attempted murder.

A Mandeni taxi owner was shot four times in the street near the Mandeni taxi rank last Monday.

He was on foot at the time and took cover in the nearby Spar.

The 41-year-old man was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The motive behind the shooting is still unknown.

South African Police Services spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, said four men, aged between 27 and 31, were arrested last Thursday, during which four firearms were seized.

“Police seized three rifles and one pistol.

“The men appeared in the Nyoni Magistrates Court on Friday and were remanded in custody until today (Monday).”
