Hitman opens fire on taxi arriving at Maphumulo taxi rank, killing one and injuring another

One man was arrested for posssesion of a unlicensed firearm.

One man was shot and killed and another was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, after a drive-by shooting at Maphumulo Taxi Rank in KwaDukuza last night.

The two were passengers of a taxi that had just arrived from Gauteng and was busy offloading,

According to KwaDukuza police spokesperson, constable Sibusiso Khuzwayo, as the passengers were disembarking, a bakkie parked in front of the taxi.

“A man wearing a white vest went straight to the taxi passengers, disarmed one of them before shooting two men and fleeing with the firearm.”

The taxi driver drove directly to the KwaDukuza SAPS for help.

Upon arrival, one of the injured men was already dead.

“The brother of the deceased tried to hide the deceased’s firearm but was caught and arrested for possession of an unlicenced firearm.
