Robbed and stuffed into the boot of his car – Thembeni, KwaDukuza

Five armed men broke down the door demanding cash.

A couple’s Friday night became an ordeal of terror when five armed men stormed into their house in Thembeni, demanding cash.

According to KwaDukuza police, a 29-year-old man and his partner were asleep when the men broke down the door.

One of the men allegedly hit the victim on his head with a hammer and stole an undisclosed amount of money and cellphones from the couple.

The man was then kidnapped and shoved into the boot of his vehicle, while his bank cards were seized by the robbers.

They drove to the closest ATM and attempted to withdraw money from the victim’s bank account, however they were unsuccessful.

After driving around, the thieves than parked the vehicle on the R102 near Gledhow and one of them stabbed the man.

“They fled the area, leaving the wounded man stranded in the boot of his vehicle.

“He was helped by the KwaDukuza SAPS and residents.

“He was taken to hospital and police are investigating a case of house robbery and kidnapping,” said Ethekwini inner south cluster communications officer Priya Nunkumar.
