A young job seeker has claimed to have been raped by the owner of a massage parlour in Tongaat, while interviewing for a receptionist position.
Reaction Unit SA’s Prem Balram said a 53-year-old man was arrested this Monday for allegedly raping the 18-year-old job seeker.
“The young woman was with her mother who is a street vendor in Tongaat, when the businessman approached her and offered her a job as a receptionist.
“She realised during the interview last Monday that the business was a massage parlour.
“She was initially interviewed by the businessman in the presence of another woman but was asked to return an hour later for a second interview,” said Balram.
The victim reported that the woman who was present during the first interview had left when she returned. The business owner apparently told the victim that she would get a permanent job as a receptionist if she agreed to perform massages part time.

“The girl refused the masseuse position but was told that it was part of the interview process. She then claimed that she was taken to a back room where the suspect removed his shirt and asked for a massage.
“The man then allegedly proceeded to masturbate in front of the girl and then forcefully removed her clothing before raping her.”
The man was arrested and detained at Tongaat SAPS.
