Homeowners attacked in Salt Rock burglary

The robbers used a crowbar to open the sliding door.

A Salt Rock couple were lucky to escape with relatively minor injures after being assaulted by five men during a house robbery last night.

Umhlali SAPS spokesperson captain Vinny Pillay said a 59-year-old man and his wife were watching TV in their lounge when the men entered their property.

“They used a crowbar to open the sliding door and assaulted the couple with clenched fists,” said Pillay.

Jewellery, two pistols, a revolver, a flat screen TV and laptop all valued at a combined amount of around R257 000 were stolen.

Neighbours alerted security companies of the incident.

The couple were treated at their home for their injuries. No arrests have been made.
