KwaDukuza station commander brigadier Sbongile Mhlongo said police monitored the men as they went to all the ATMs within the parking lot, withdrawing money.

“Police searched them and one was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and 18 live rounds of ammunition.

“Each card had paper wrapped around it with the owner of the card’s details and pin code,” said Mhlongo.

One man was charged for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and live rounds of ammunition, and both men were charged for being found in possession of suspected stolen property and theft.

“We will have a zero tolerance attitude towards all SASSA and bank card fraudsters who rob from vulnerable members of the community and take advantage of the elders of the community,” said KwaDukuza SAPS station commander, brigadier Sbongile Mhlongo.
