Two nabbed in Salt Rock house break-in

The arrests came after they allegedly broke into a house in Little Maritzburg Road.

Two men who were suspected to have been involved in a string of house break-in’s, were arrested on Sunday.

The arrests came after they allegedly broke into a house in Little Maritzburg Road in Salt Rock.

An IPSS Electronic Security officer was patrolling at the beach when the call came through that the home alarm had gone off.

He headed directly to the house where he saw two men in the yard.  He was able to arrest one man and took him to Umhlali SAPS.

On his way back, he arrested the second man, who was walking towards the train station in Umhlali.

The men were found in possession of a bag containing stolen items from different houses in Salt Rock.

Umhlali SAPS spokesperson captain Vinny Pillay said only one man was detained at the station, the other one was released due to lack of evidence.

“He will be appearing in court on June 18, charged for a house break-in and theft,” said Pillay.
