Three men found hiding with a stolen TV in Ballito Park

Community members notified security officers of the suspicious activity.

Swift action by community members and security officers led to the arrest of one of three men found with a flat screen TV on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios, the men were spotted hiding in the park in Zen Drive.

Residents had notified security officers of the suspicious activity.

“Our officer investigated and found three suspects walking through dense vegetation in the park. They were in possession of a flat screen television,” said Mathios.

When the officers approached the men one of them reportedly attempted to flee, but was caught by a back-up armed response officer who had arrived at the park.

“The men initially alleged that they had found the flat screen television on the side of the road. However, upon further questioning and investigation by the Umhlali SAPS this was found to be untrue and police arrested one of the men for being in possession of the allegedly stolen television,” said Mathios.

Umhlali SAPS took the alleged thief into custody and the matter is under investigation.
