Alleged whoonga mule arrested in KwaDukuza

He was arrested and charged for possession of drugs and will appear in Kwadukuza Magistrates' Court in due time

One less alleged drug mule walks the streets of KwaDukuza.

The alleged drug trafficker, a 20-year-old Ntshawini resident, was arrested on Monday for being in possession of 80 capsules of what was likely the highly addictive drug whoonga.

KwaDukuza Saps spokesperson Priya Nunkumar said the man was arrested in Stanger Manor after police were tipped off by the ILembe Crime Intelligence office.

“The suspect was arrested and charged for possession of drugs and will appear in KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court in due time,” said Nunkumar.

KwaDukuza station commander, Brigadier Sibongile Mhlongo commended her officers on the arrest.

“We [have] a zero tolerance approach to all drug sales, distribution and usage in the KwaDukuza area,” she said.

Brigadier Mhlongo said residents with information on drug use and trading could contact her at 082 376 2591.

Drug addicts who spoke with the Courier last December, said whoonga capsules are available on KwaDukuza streets for R20 each.
