The case of Fungai Nyamadzawo, the Ballito mother accused of murdering her 6-year-old daughter, has been postponed after her defense attorney requested time to go over the psychiatric reports.
The 42-year-old appeared briefly at the KwaDukuza regional court on Wednesday, where she is facing charges of premeditated murder.
The matter relates to May 31, 2020 when she claimed she had been driving with her 2 daughters near Shayamoya when she slowed down at a speed hump.

She told police an unknown man opened the back door of her vehicle and took Alexia, a grade 1 pupil at Umhlali Preparatory, who was asleep at the time.
The body of her daughter was found in a remote sugarcane field in Riet Valley, outside of Glendale 2 days later.
At her second court appearance her defense attorney placed on record that his client had a history of mental illness and was extremely emotional and in need of observation and examination.

The matter was postponed so Nyamadzawo could undergo evaluation.
She was admitted to Fort Napier, a state mental facility in Pietermaritzburg on December 15 for a 30-day psychiatric observation to establish whether she was mentally fit to stand trail and to assess her criminal capacity at the time of committing the crime.
The state has opposed bail and she remains in police custody.
