Drug mules nabbed at Umhlali with Whoonga capsules valued at R57 000

Snyman said Saps Umhlali K9 narcotics members were called and a team was hastily assembled to monitor the N2 and R102, on the look out for the drug mules.

A joint operation led to the arrest of 3 alleged drug dealers in Umhlali last Friday.

According to private security company Z2 Security spokesperson, Francois Snyman, they received a tip-off last Friday about drugs that were about to be transported from Durban to KwaDukuza.

Snyman said Saps Umhlali K9 narcotics members were called and a team was hastily assembled to monitor the N2 and R102, on the look out for the drug mules.

The vehicle, a Toyota sedan, was eventually spotted and a high speed chase ensued.

The vehicle was intercepted at the Umhlali robots by K9 officers and several private security teams.

Several bags containing about 2 000 Whoonga capsules to the value of R57 000 were recovered.

The 3 suspects appeared at KwaDukuza magistrate court on Monday on a charge of dealing in drugs.

They were remanded into police custody until their next court appearance.
