Ballito woman accused of drowning daughter (4) makes first court appearance

She will remain in police custody pending further investigations and will appear in court again next week.

The Ballito mother charged with murder for allegedly drowning her 4-year-old daughter in a bucket of water on Tuesday, made her first appearance in the KwaDukuza magistrate’s court today.

The 45-year-old woman will remain in custody at Umhlali Saps pending further investigations and the finalisation of DNA results. Her next court appearance will be next Thursday (May 5).

The mother allegedly told police the child was “difficult and troubling her”, so she decided to drown her.

Both the little girl’s hands were tied with tape and she was declared dead at the scene
