Pregnant Westbrook woman and husband tied up, assaulted and robbed by 5 knife-wielding men

The robbers cut a hole into the fence of the property to gain access, and used a plank placed on the roof next to the balcony to gain entry into the home.

Five men armed with knives broke into a Westbrook home during the early morning hours of Tuesday morning, tying up a pregnant woman and her husband.

According to Community Emergency Response Tongaat (CERT), the robbery was reported to them around 2am.

The couple, once tied up, were assaulted while the home was ransacked.

The robbers fled on foot, taking televisions, laptops, phones, bank cards and jewelry, among other items.

On arrival, CERT and police found the traumatised couple, who told them they were asleep when the men broke into their home.

A search of the nearby cane field at the back of the property ensued where some of the stolen items were found.

No arrests have as yet been made.
