Mini bus owner’s killers get life for driveway murder in botched carjacking
The 31-year-old owner of a mini bus was shot dead in his driveway by three men who were attempting to steal his vehicle.

Three men received stiff sentences last week for killing a mini bus owner, Nduduzo Ntuli, in Maphumulo in June of 2020.
Provincial police spokesperson constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the Mtunzini High Court convicted and sentenced Phumulani Mjaza (33), Musa Nelson Phahla (37) and Sabelo Enoc Mdletshe (38) for murder, attempted carjacking and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Ngcobo said when Ntuli arrived at his home in Maphumulo, as he was parking his minibus, he was approached by three men.
The killers wanted to take his taxi and he attempted to fight them off. They shot him and he was declared dead on the scene.
“When Ntuli’s father heard the gunshots he went out to investigate and he managed to restrain one of the suspects while the other two fled,” said Ngcobo.
The remaining two men were arrested two days later at Hlahleni in Maphumulo.
Mjaza was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, 10 years for attempted carjacking and a further 10 years for unlawful possession of a firearm.
His co-accused were each sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and a further 10 years for attempted carjacking.
