Ndwedwe rapist stepfather handed 100-year sentence

Police say the stepfather of a 15-year-old Ndwedwe teenager had raped her on four separate occasions while her mother was away.

Charged with four counts of rape, an unidentified Ndwedwe man was convicted and sentenced to 100 years’ imprisonment, 25 years for each time he raped his 15-year-old stepdaughter.

The sentence was delivered at the KwaDukuza Regional Court today, August 31.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala, said the teenager had been left terrified and traumatised by her stepfather’s behaviour in August last year.

“She was sleeping in her room and woke up when he jumping into her bed. The girl insisted that he leave her room.

“Instead, her stepfather overpowered her and raped her while threatening her with violence,” Lt Col Gwala said.

He continued to rape her on several other occasions while her mother was away.

“Tired of suffering in silence the victim informed her mother. The matter was reported to the Ndwedwe police and the stepfather was arrested at his home on August 24 last year.”
