Security guard shot in cash-in-transit robbery in KwaDukuza

This marks the second cash-in-transit heist in the area within three days.

A security guard was shot and injured, while his colleague was assaulted during a cash-in-transit robbery on the R74 in KwaDukuza this afternoon.

According to Samantha Meyrick of IPSS Medical Rescue, both officers suffered moderate injuries and were transported to a medical facility for treatment.

The 50-year-old guard was shot in the lower leg, while his 46-year-old colleague was physically attacked.

This marks the second cash-in-transit heist in the area within three days.

The latest incident follows a robbery on the R102 between Mandeni and Gingindlovu on Saturday, where criminals escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
