Five guns and ammunition stockpile seized from KwaDukuza home
Two of the guns were reported stolen in a KwaDukuza police case opened in November.
A 56-year-old man was arrested after being found in possession of five unlicensed guns and hundreds of rounds of live ammunition in Warrenton, KwaDukuza.
iLembe District police, working with the KwaZulu-Natal provincial task team and the Durban metro tracing unit, tracked the man to his home on Warren Road on Wednesday.
According to iLembe police communications official Priya Nunkumar-Bukum, the raid was part of a planned operation specifically targeting suspects linked to illegal firearms and ammunition.
During the search, police recovered five guns, including a Magnum Taurus 357 revolver, a 9mm Beretta pistol, two 303 rifles and a shotgun. Two of the recovered guns were reported stolen in a KwaDukuza Saps case opened in November 2025.
Police also seized a total of 953 live rounds of ammunition of various calibres.
The man was charged with five counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm and six counts of unlawful possession of ammunition.
